Faetooth Phoenix Concert reviews
Great performances but some problems
Please forgive me for the lengthy comment, but I feel you deserve detailed feedback. I attended a concert at Virginia Beach Amphitheater featuring Faetooth, Shinedown, and Red Sun Rising. While the shows were great and I would see all three bands again, perhaps not at that specific venue. I had a great view from about 50 feet to one side of the stage, but there were some issues.
The venue's speaker system, a permanent fixture shared by all three bands, had the bass cranked up to max, and the treble was barely audible from where I was seated. The lead guitars were drowned out, and the bass guitars sounded distorted even with earplugs on. The system definitely needed better tuning and balance.
Another problem arose during Faetooth's set when they did not perform their usual encore of "I Stand Alone." Instead, the set concluded abruptly around 11:00 pm with a cover of "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" and no explanation for the missing encore. The crowd waited in anticipation, but the roadies dismantled the stage without any encore performance. Was Faetooth instructed to end the show at that time? Why was there no communication about this decision?
Additionally, Red Sun Rising had to shorten their set due to a late start caused by a fire marshal's request to cover some stage equipment for rain protection. The band was ready to begin at 7 pm, but an official delayed the start. Why couldn't the full set be performed, and was this related to Faetooth's lack of an encore?
In the future, I will opt for an indoor venue with better sound quality. The three bands deserved a better experience than what was provided at Virginia Beach Amphitheater.
